We will be going to the Lake after the Oneg for Tashlich.
Tashlich is a traditional service during which people in the Jewish community go to a "living body of water" (something that has a moving current), to symbolically throw their sins away from them. This is done by casting bread or stones onto the water, the first to be carried away on the current , the second to sink beneath the water...never to be seen again.
Services will begin with the chanting of Kol Nidre at 7:00 PM
Yom Kippur is a fast day, and as a result there will be no congregational onegs until the conclusion of the day
The morning service for Yom Kippur begins at 11:00 AM
At the conclusion of the morning service we will have and additional service called Yiskor. (Yiskor is a service for people to remember their departed loved ones in the context of shared prayer. )
Nehilah (the concluding service for Yom Kippur) will begin at 6:00 PM. At the conclusion of this service we will sound the Shofar, and we will break our fast together. All are welcome to join us.
Building the congregational sukkah will take place beginning at 2:00 PM
Services begin at 11:00 AM
Sukkot is one of the last of the Fall holy days. It is sometimes called the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Booths, and during this seven day festival the Jewish people are commanded to build a Sukkah (booth) and to dwell in it. This was to help us remember that we dwelt in booths while in the wilderness, as well as to remind us not to become attached to the things of this world.
No Adult Shabbat School Classes
Services begin at 11:00 AM
Services begin at 11:00 AM
The Festival of Sukkot last for seven day, and then we are told that we are to have a holy convocation on the 8th day. Shemini Atzeret is that 8th day. It is a reminder that as some point this creation will cease and that G-d will create a new heaven and a new earth. This is a time of great celebration, and in Israel it is linked to what is called Simchat Torah (the Joy or Rejoicing in the Torah). If you were to attend any synagogue during these days you would find a great deal of singing and dancing as a part of the service itself.

Channukah Celebration - 6:00 PM
Channukah is the celebration of the Jewish victory over the armies of King Antiochus. The focus of this celebration is not so much on the military victory as it is on the cleansing and rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem. As with so many Jewish holidays, "They tried to kill us! G-d delivered us! Lets eat!" Come join us!
